Hello Flood Farm Family,
We have some exciting news to share — and for all of you still guessing, Valkyrie will be a Mother once more for the next Flood Farm litter!
🐾 It's Official: A Litter Is on the Way

We are thrilled to announce that Valkyrie is expecting, and this litter carries a lineage that means a great deal to everyone here at Flood Farm. The sire is our beloved Kipper — the remarkable dog we told you about in our last post — whose calm confidence, loyalty, and protective spirit have shaped some of the finest dogs we've ever raised.
We could not be more excited about what this pairing will bring.
Cindy places her puppies carefully, one family at a time, and this litter will be no different. If you've been thinking about applying, now is the moment. Families already in conversation with Cindy are always first in line.

🏡 The First Days Home — Setting the Right Tone
In our last few posts we've talked about preparing your home, educating yourself, and understanding your shepherd's protective nature. Today we want to talk about something that catches even well-prepared families off guard: those first 48 to 72 hours.
The way your puppy experiences coming home shapes more than you might expect. Here's what we've learned after more than 40 years of watching puppies make that transition.
The car ride matters. Keep it calm and quiet. This is your puppy's first experience of your world, and a chaotic ride sets an anxious tone. Have someone hold the puppy securely, speak softly, and resist the urge to make a big event of it.

Resist the welcome party. We know — everyone wants to meet the puppy. But arriving home to a crowd of excited people is overwhelming for a young dog who has just left everything familiar. Give your puppy a day or two to settle in before the introductions begin.
Let them explore at their own pace. Don't carry them everywhere or hover over every step. Put them down, stay calm and nearby, and let them investigate. Confidence is built from the ground up — literally.
The first night is about security, not comfort. A crate placed near your bed, a worn t-shirt for familiar scent, and a consistent bedtime routine go further than any toy or treat. Resist the urge to bring them into bed at the first whimper — the habits formed in week one tend to stick.
Routine is your best friend. German Shepherds are deeply intelligent and settle fastest when they understand what comes next. Feed, walk, train, and rest on a consistent schedule from day one, and you'll be amazed how quickly your puppy finds their footing.

One thing Cindy always reminds new families: the puppy you bring home has already been learning. By the time a Flood Farm puppy leaves the farm, they've been handled daily, introduced to basic commands, and started on housetraining. You're not starting from zero — you're building on a foundation we've already laid together.
