Flood Farm Puppies Aren't for Everyone?

A while back, someone reached out through our contact form.

We answered the way we always do: guidance on nutrition, a conversation about spay and neuter timing, our approach to holistic care, and our expectation that every puppy grows up with professional training and an established relationship with a vet.

They wrote back that they'd raised many dogs over the years, including German Shepherds, and felt they already had the experience covered. Based on that, they decided Flood Farm wasn't the right breeder for them.

Our contact form is open to anyone. It's meant to start a conversation, not describe who you are as a dog owner. It doesn't ask about your history with dogs, your home, or your training plans, because that isn't its job. That's what our full application is for. It's the only place we actually learn an applicant's experience and readiness, and we ask every family to complete it, no matter how many dogs they've raised before.

This isn't about doubting anyone's ability. It's about consistency. Our standards don't change based on who's asking, because a successful placement day was never the goal. A successful lifetime is. We ask the same of every family so that no Flood Farm puppy ever ends up without the structure, support, and lifelong partnership they need.

Puppy Update: Training Day with a Longtime Friend

Our most recent litter is settling in well. Recently, our boy and his sister were reunited at puppy training class.

They've been working with Ron Pace, a longtime friend of Flood Farm and a trainer whose approach lines up closely with ours. Ron has recommended Flood Farm to families for years, and we don't take that kind of support for granted.

If you watch the short video from their meet-up, you'll notice our boy has caught right up to his sister in size. He's not shy about showing it off either, play-wrestling and giving her a gentle nudge or two along the way. Watch the video here

If you're a Flood Farm family looking for training support, Ron comes highly recommended by us.

With love, The Flood Farm Family
